Perrin girls beat Graford

Cowgirls remain perfect

GORDON – Coming from behind isn’t easy when you haven’t done it.

After an up and down non-district ledger where Bryson’s Cowgirls went 5-5, the squad has had an easy time rolling through district so far going 3-0 in the early going, not having trailed at any point in the process.

That changed Friday afternoon here as the host Lady ‘Horns got their bats rolling early to take a 1-0 lead into the third inning. Bryson had finally had enough and got its offense on the move in the middle innings.

Softball team drops Nocona

The girls had finally had enough.

After starting District 8-3A play 0-4, Jacksboro’s varsity softballers used focus and a 14-hit attack to snap the streak in a 16-0, three inning win over visiting Nocona Tuesday evening .

Jacksboro goes to 1-4 in the loop and 6-13 overall while dropping Nocona to 0-5 and 1-11-1. Tigerette Coach John Bennett said cutting out the extras paid dividends.

Bryson girls sweep Graford

GRAFORD – Bryson’s softball team remains in first place in district as the squad swept past the host Lady Rabbits here Monday.

Perrin lifters qualify for State

PERRIN – For Brianna Bryant, it’s a chance at redemption. For Tristen Barbare, it’s a chance to leave high school on a high note.

The Perrin High pair qualified for the State Powerlifting Championships in their respective divisions during regional meets earlier this month. Bryant, a sophomore, will compete in the 114-pound class in Waco this weekend while Barbare, a 220-pound senior, will compete in Abilene March 23-24.

Bryant was 2nd place at regionals in the Class 2A division lifting a combined 545 pounds but admits she is more excited this year than last.

Varsity SB falls to Boyd, 16-6

When a good pitcher has a devastating bat, it can mean double trouble for an opponent.

Such is the case of Boyd’s Kristin Rasbury, who had three home runs as part of four extra base hits and batted in 10 runs Friday night in a 16-6, six-inning victory over Jacksboro at Tigerette Field. Jacksboro drops to 5-11 and 0-2 in District 8-3A with Boyd going to 1-1.
