Lady ‘Hounds run over Perrin girls in four games

PERRIN – With the host Lady Pirates running into passing and offensive issues during Friday morning’s match with visiting Strawn, the Lady ‘Hounds took advantage of youth on Perrin’s part and put up a 25-22, 25-14, 26-24, 25-15 win over the hostesses.

Strawn led 8-3 in the opener before Tasha Frissell’s ace and a Molly Heagy pair which included an ace to get within 9-10. Aaliyah Brown then rolled off five straight for Perrin to take a 15-12 lead.

The Lady ‘Hounds came back to take a 19-15 lead before a Heagy kill broke serve.The squads traded points before another Heagy pair cut the lead to 22-23 which is as close as the Lady Pirates would get.

Strrawn took another 8-3 lead in game two before Frissell’s pair and singles by Gracie Turner and Abby VanBuskirk knotted the game at 10. Strawn again pulled away, running off the last five points to go up 2-0 in the match.

Seeing the match slipping from their fingers, Perrin got out to a quick start in game three, using a pair via senior Nayeli Lopez to go up 5-2. Singles by Frissell and Heagy put Perrin up 10-7.

Strawn went up 12-11 before a Lopez kill knotted the game briefly. Perrin fell behind by two before a four-point Lopez serving string put the hostesses up 17-14. Strawn tied the game at 18 before Perrin broke serve and Heagy put her teammates up 21-18.

The Lady ‘Hounds tied the game at 22 and two more times before Lopez served up the final two serving points.

Strawn got out to a quick 9-3 lead and Perrin never got closer than eight the whole game as Strawn went on to win in just 79 minutes.
