IOWA PARK – Jacksboro Middle School’s 8th-grade football team gave up a 22-point first quarter Sept. 21 which ultimately sent the squad to a 36-12 defeat.

The Tigers are 0-2. Coach Brian Davenport said the slow start hurt.

We got off to a very slow start. We allowed 22 points in the first quarter before we really started playing,” Davenport said. “We played pretty even after that. We played better on offense as the game progressed. Domanik Hammond ran the ball effectively. “

Tigerettes split with Bowie, Henrietta

Locked in a battle for nearly two hours here Saturday afternoon, Jacksboro and Bowie’s varsity volleyballers left everything they had on the floor for their supporters.

Bowie had a 10-9 lead in the fifth set before Jacksboro broke serve and used pairs of points from Jordan Pruitt and Alex Holman, both freshmen, to finish the job in a thrilling 25-20, 17-25, 25-17, 16-25, 15-11 match at Tiger Gym.

Tiger FB travels to Boyd

Jacksboro continues to play solid football in non-district play heading into tonight’s road game at Boyd.

The Tigers (4-0) were able to outmuscle a physically larger Bowie team last Friday in a 38-21 Homecoming Night win, the first win over the Jackrabbits since 1994.

“We’re starting to come together as a team,” Jacksboro Coach Brannon Rodgers noted during a conversation during the week. “Our offensive line and tight ends are doing a great job.”

Tigers remain perfect with 38-21 win

Knotted in a tight battle midway through the second quarter Friday night, Jacksboro pulled away with 17 unanswered points in a closer than it looked 38-21 victory over visiting Bowie on Homecoming Night at Tiger Stadium.

The Lady Pirates won a game vs. Alvord last week and gave visiting Bryson a good match Saturday before succumbing 21-25, 17-25, 11-25. Bryson goes to 4-1 in district play with Perrin still winless at 0-5.

Jboro VB loses pair

Visiting Nocona used a frontcourt attack that Jacksboro’s volleyballers couldn’t solve and wound up posting a 25-14, 25-18, 13-25, 25-20 win over the Tigerettes Friday afternoon.

Both squads are 2-3 in District 8-3A with one week to go in the first round of loop play.
