Bowie boys, girls sweep past Jacksboro at home

Both Jacksboro’s teams suffered tough losses Friday at home to visiting Bowie. Brief summaries of both games follow.

Bowie girls 44, Jacksboro 30

Bowie and Jacksboro continued to fight for a playoff spot in District 7-3A Friday night but a big second quarter for the Lady Rabbits allowed the visitors to pull away and post a 44-30 win over the host Tigerettes.

Jacksboro slips to 4-5 in District 7-3A. Bowie gets the season sweep over Jacksboro.

Bowie jumped out to a 9-5 lead after one with Brynn Pardue’s three-pointer and a Traci Berend bucket accounting for the Tigerette tallies.

Bowie outscored Jacksboro `15-5 in the second, with Berend’s three-pointer combined with Alex Holman’s bucket to give Bowie a 24-10 lead at the half.

Bowie extended its lead in the third, outscoring Jacksboro 9-6 with Holman, Teagan Reynolds and Kylie Tullous scoring two points each. The Tigerettes scored nearly half their points in the fourth quarter with a 14-point stanza.

Holman had seven tallies, Pardue another three from outside along with a Berend basket and Harlee Richardson free throws but it was too little too late.

Holman had 11 points to lead Jacksboro. Jayci Logan had 12 to lead Bowie.

Bowie boys 54, Jacksboro 51

The second quarter proved to be a downfall for the host Tigers as well, as Bowie pulled away.

Jacksboro took a 15-14 lead after one with Daylan Valles’ seven points being bettered by Jordan Yount’s eight.

The Rabbits then took control, outscoring the Tigers 19-0 in the second to lead 33-15 at the half.

Jacksboro scored 18 points in each of the final two quarters but it waste little too late.

Jacksboro outscored Bowie 18-10 in the third, Yount scoring half of the Tiger points. Rylan Chalmers had four points, Paul Shackelford had three and Valles two to bring the Purple within 43-33.

Yount added another seven tallies in the fourth quarter to lead Jacksboro. Classmate Landon Davenport had five points, Valles added four and Chalmers a pair.

Yount had 24 points and Valles 13 for the Tigers. Brady Armstrong had 19 points with five three-pointers for the visitors.
