Carol Turpin

Carol Rosebelle King Turpin passed away August 11, 2016. A memorial service was held August 27, 2016 at West University United Methodist Church in Houston.

Carol was born November 15, 1935 to Vinton and Carol King. She married W.T. Turpin on September 8, 1956 in Jacksonville, Illinois. They moved to Texas where Trent worked for Humble Oil Company and they raised three children Lee, Catherine and Weldon.

Jimmy Don Gowan

Jimmy Don Gowan, 63, passed away on August 28, 2016. He was born December 30, 1952 in Jacksboro, Texas to H.R. and Ima Jean Edwards Phillips Gowan.  

Jimmy lived most of his life in Jacksboro. He loved the ranch and loved his many friends there. His great sense of humor, his love for the Texas Rangers, his wonderful laugh and his famous slow southern Texas drawl will be deeply missed.

Calvin "Doodles" Wilhoit

Calvin “Doodles” Wilhoit, 58, a drilling consultant, went to be with our Lord Monday, August 1, 2016 in Bridgeport.

Doodles was born on February 26, 1958 to Bobby and Barbara (Workman) Wilhoit in Jacksboro, Texas. He was united in marriage to Vickie Eubanks on December 5, 1997 in Decatur. Doodles was a member of Balsora Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his dad, Bobby Wilhoit; and his grandparents, Calvin and Ester Workman, Roy and Ruth Wilhoit.

Madelyn Kline

Madelyn Kline passed away on Friday, July 29, 2016 at the age of 81. She was born January 15, 1935 to Edward and Susie Reynolds Thompson in Brownfield, Texas. 

She was married to Billy Allen Kline April 18, 1997. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, two sisters and son, Corwin Trent Hobdy. 

Chella Kay Norris

Chella Kay Norris, 66 of Berryville, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Invona Loudoun Hospital in Leesburg, Virginia.  

Mrs. Norris was born in Jacksboro, Texas to the late Ellis Len and Vetta Oleta Hensley Smith.  

Survivors include her husband, Thomas Norris of the home; daughter and son-in-law Chella E. and Nate McMahon of Sterling; brother and sister-in-law, James and Rebecca Smith of Jacksboro, Texas; and two grandchildren, Riley and Logan McMahon.

Rita Middleton Jackson

Rita Middleton Jackson, 81, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2016 in Fort Worth, Texas. 

She was born August 22, 1934 in Montague, Texas to Smith Fredrick Middleton and Angie Oleta Brown Middleton. 

The family moved to Jacksboro in her 16th year. She graduated from Jacksboro high school. 

She married Homer Ray Jackson in October 1951. He preceded her in death in January 1962.
