Carol Turpin

Carol Rosebelle King Turpin passed away August 11, 2016. A memorial service was held August 27, 2016 at West University United Methodist Church in Houston.

Carol was born November 15, 1935 to Vinton and Carol King. She married W.T. Turpin on September 8, 1956 in Jacksonville, Illinois. They moved to Texas where Trent worked for Humble Oil Company and they raised three children Lee, Catherine and Weldon.

Carol was a volunteer for Kingwood Fire Department. She gave of her time and talent to her Houston churches and was a teacher for Bible study and Sunday school. She helped with funeral meals, food banks, mission and outreach ministries in Houston and Africa providing funds for feeding children and digging wells for fresh water in villages.

Carol and Trent ranched in Jack County and enjoyed escaping the busy life of Houston to renew their soul in the country’s peace and quiet.

Carol attended Bryson Methodist Church and volunteered with church activities and food band. She attended the Senior citizens activities and the ladies Bible study group at the Church of Christ.

Carol learned to quilt as a member of the Post Oak Busy Bee quilt club, a passion she turned into a joy for many as she donated her quilts to organizations for fundraisers. She shared her quilts as gifts for family and church members and special needs babies in Houston hospitals.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Vinton and Carol King, husband W.T. Turpin, and sister Jan Melin.

Survivors included her children Weldon Turpin (Fela), Lee Turpin (Judy), and Catherine Turpin Cantero (Donnie); grandchildren, Casey Turpin, Caroline Turpin and Chris Lowther; sister Rebecca Mays (Bill), nieces Ann VanConia (Brent), Nancy Melin, Carrie McCollum (Scot), and Julia Hurley (Ken), and numerous cousins and friends.
