Cowgirls knock Poolville from unbeatens

POOLVILLE – Injuries can prove detrimental to what a team wants to do.

In the District 11-A volleyball opener between Bryson and Poolville Sept. 8, Cowgirl senior hitter Sydney Davidson was coming off an injury. The visiting  Lady Monarchs were able to take advantage and posted a four-game win.

Tuesday night, Davidson was back to her old self, laying down kills and blocks with ease and efficiency. Poolville held tough and even forced a fourth game before Bryson pulled out a tough 25-22, 25-23, 18-25, 27-25 win.

Tigers gun for win vs. Eastland

After a slow start, Jacksboro looks to be on its way to another productive season.

The Tigers have won their last two games, including a 29-6 victory over Wichita Falls City View last Friday evening, to even their record at 2-2. A win Friday at home vs. Eastland would keep the squad in a positive frame of mind and allow Jacksboro to enter District 6-3A Division II on a high note.

VB girls stung by Boyd

When the top-ranked team in the state comes into your gym, the best thing to do is to play to your potential and give it everything you have.

Jacksboro’s varsity volleyballers did just that with Boyd at home Tuesday evening, giving a solid effort vs. the Lady Jackets before ultimately falling in straight sets 18-25, 20-25, 15-25. It was the second straight setback for the Tigerettes, who fall to 3-3 in District 7-3A while Boyd is now 6-0 in the loop.

Tigers make Homecoming happy

After a week of practice where Jacksboro coaches rode their players hard, the Tigers responded getting out to a quick start Friday evening.

With a nice Homecoming crowd behind the team, Jacksboro scored on three first-half drives and wound up with a 33-14 win over previously unbeaten Paradise. The Tigers are now 1-2 for the season while Paradise falls to 2-1.

XC teams compete in Weatherford

WEATHERFORD – On a rainy, muddy course at Canyon West Golf Course, Jacksboro took part in the Parker County Cross Country championships Saturday and had success on both the high and middle school levels.

The varsity boys finished a respectable fourth out of 15 schools. Javier Palomar led the Tigers with a fourth-place finish with Jose Palomar winding up ninth.

VB team beats Breckenridge

Starting off on the right foot doesn’t guarantee success, but it sure beats the alternative.

Jacksboro’s varsity volleyballers did just that Sept. 7, opening District 7-3A action with a 25-12, 22-25, 25-12, 26-24 win over visiting Breckenridge. The Tigerettes were able to get consistent serving runs and good frontcourt play throughout to eventually pull away.
