Jacksboro opened the District 7-3A ledger Tuesday, Dec. 13 with a convincing 4535 win over visiting Henrietta to go to 8-8 overall. The game was a battle in the early going, Erin Jonas leading the early charge with six points with Kylie Tullous burying a three-pointer to help the Purple take a 12-11 lead after one.
The Purple, fired up by a enthusiastic student section, outscored the Lady ‘Cats 16-4 in the second quarter. Rylee Mathis leading a balanced offensive with six points to enable Jacksboro to take a 28-14 lead at the half.
Jacksboro’s offense went into the deep freeze in the third, Av e r y Bennett’s three-pointer the only basket with Lili Perez’s free throw the only other point. Henrietta took advantage and cut the 14-point deficit to eight, 32-24, heading into the final stanza.
Behind four points from Mathis and Brailyn Tullous, the latter perfect from the free throw line, Jacksboro was able to hang on for the win.
Jonas led Jacksboro with 12 points with Mathis adding 10.
