Perrin’s Pirates competed in BSN’s Red, White, and Blue Boys Basketball Tourney in Graham last week, finishing third.
The Pirates opened the 12-team affair Thursday with a 6753 win over Iowa Park, their second win over the Hawks this month. Using five jack Mc-Cormick points and four tallies each from Dayne Thompson and Case Lambert, Perrin was able to get out to s 20-14 lead after one.
Perrin extended the lead into double figures in the second to 33-23. Thompson tossed in eight of the 13 points with Mc-Cormick and Kolby Burke, who had three first quarter points, adding another pair.
Thompson added another eight-point frame in the third with McCormick adding six. Lambert and Burke each added three-pointers as the lead doubled to 5333 heading into the fourth frame.
The Hawks had four three-pointers in the fourth as part of the 20-point finish. Mc-Cormick closed with eight of his 21 points in the final stanza. Thompson added four off his game-high 24 points late as well.
In Friday’s pool play finale, Perrin defeated Breckenridge 82-58 on the strength of 13 three-pointers. The Pirates used 11 points from Thompson and eightfromMcCormick to jump out to a 20-17 lead after one quarter. Thompson had another nine points in the second with Burke’s second three-pointer and four points from McCormick helping to extend the lead to 3831 at the half.
McCormick, who had two three-pointers in the first, added another two in the third as part of a 10-point quarter. Thompson added eight points and Burke another thereto puts score the Buckaroos 21-14 and extend the lead to 59-45 after three quarters.
After shooting a combined 15 free throws in the first three quarters, Perrin sank 8-10 free throws in the final stanza with Lambert burying a couple of threes to help the cause. Thompson tossed in 35 points and McCormick 30. In the semifinals, the squad lost to Hereford, 40-33 to move into Saturday’s thirdplace game vs. Fort Worth Castleberry and posted an 81-65 victory.
Burke had his best game of the tournament, opening with a 12-point first quarter including three three-pointers. Thompson had seven points and McCormick five to help the Pirates take a 24-12 lead into the second quarter.
Thompson had 12 second quarter points with McCormick adding 11 and Burke and four three-pointer as Perrin had a comfortable 50-28 lead at the half. Burke had a 10-point third quarter with Thompson adding five and Mc-Cormick two. Perrin led 69-49 lead heading into the fourth. McCormick had seven points in the final frame.
Burke led Perrin with 27 points with Thompson and Mc-Cormick adding 25 each.
Perrin returns home Thursday, Dec. 15 to face Breckenridge at 6:15 p.m.
