FCH board receives COVID-19 update

Faith Community Hospital Chief of Staff Dr. Robert Cooper gave board members an update on the recent surge of COVID-19 cases throughout the area during the regular meeting Monday, Sept. 27.

Cooper said last month the facility had to cancel surgeries because the ICU was full and operating rooms were being used for ICU patients. United Regional Medical Center was unable to accept transfers for more than a month.

FCH hosting vaccine clinic

Due to increasing numbers of COVID-19 cases in the area, Faith Community Hospital is hosting a COVID-19 vaccination clinic Saturday, Aug. 14 from 9 a.m. to noon at Twin Lakes Activity Center.

Jack County Health Official Dr. Robert Cooper said the clinic was warranted because of rising number of cases, which are growing daily in the county and area wide, primarily because of the Delta variant.

Large amount of vaccine coming to town Thursday and Friday

Nearly 1,000 doses of the Pfizer COVID vaccine will be administered Thursday and Friday in Jack County.

County Judge Keith Umphress said all scheduling will now be done online and is first come first serve to set up an appointment. A Jack County Vaccine Clinic Online Registration form can be found on any of our social media accounts to place yourself or any loved ones 18 and older on the list. Vaccine update given by County Judge Umphress

More than 400 1st doses of COVID vaccines are expected this week with several 2nd doses to medical personnel, first responders also coming later this week.

County Judge Keith Umphress said in an e-mail Sunday night about 400 first doses for which people will be scheduled for are scheduled to be given Thursday at a mass distribution vaccine center at the Twin Lakes Activity Center.

Umphress said there are about 800 people waiting on the Master List. Scheduling was to begin Monday morning.

Gladys Johnson Ritchie Library COVID-19 update

Gladys Johnson Ritchie library is “technically” closed right now,but can be open under certain restrictions.

The gates are not open to groups over 10, including staff, to be in the library at one time. Because of patrons reading large amounts of books and/or movies from the library and also needing internet to apply for unemployment, fill out Census, apply for food stamps, and to complete other documents, the library will be open by using the conditions below.
