Large amount of vaccine coming to town Thursday and Friday

Wed, 03/10/2021 - 5:00 pm

Nearly 1,000 doses of the Pfizer COVID vaccine will be administered Thursday and Friday in Jack County.

County Judge Keith Umphress said all scheduling will now be done online and is first come first serve to set up an appointment. A Jack County Vaccine Clinic Online Registration form can be found on any of our social media accounts to place yourself or any loved ones 18 and older on the list. Stay tuned through social media for more vaccination information as it becomes available.

With the recent influx of vaccine, including another 400 2nd doses of Moderna which were administered Friday, Umphress said approximately 3,000 people will be vaccinated by the middle of April.

Umphress said he felt Governor Greg Abbott’s announcement of opening the State up to 100 percent capacity was a bit early.

“I feel the announcement was 45-60 days premature,” Umphress said in a text. “By the middle of April we will have successfully vaccinated over 3000 citizens. That’s when I would have gone wide open.”

Dr. Robert Cooper, Faith Community Hospital Chief of Staff and Jack County Health officials says the vaccine clinics at Twin Lakes Activity Center are operating extremely efficiently.

“We have given every single dose we have received with zero waste while even vaccinating our school district staff members and many of the elderly,” Cooper stated in a press release.

When coming for your second shot, make sure you bring the card that was given you when you received your first shot.
