Vaccine update given by County Judge Umphress

More than 400 1st doses of COVID vaccines are expected this week with several 2nd doses to medical personnel, first responders also coming later this week.

County Judge Keith Umphress said in an e-mail Sunday night about 400 first doses for which people will be scheduled for are scheduled to be given Thursday at a mass distribution vaccine center at the Twin Lakes Activity Center.

Umphress said there are about 800 people waiting on the Master List. Scheduling was to begin Monday morning.

Those waiting for the second dose, which is scheduled to begin 28 days after the first dose, are expected to be given those this week. Nursing home and staff at Faith Community Hospital were to get their 2nd shot Monday with county first responders theirs Tuesday and county education officials on Wednesday.

About 50 percent of residents are receiving the vaccines, Umphress said in a previous interview.
