Perrin’s varsity volleyball team opened a four-week summer volleyball league at home Thursday night with a match vs. Poolville.

In a back and forth battle Thursday evening, Bryson used a five-run seventh to break a tie and held off the host Monarchs in a 12-9 win.

Nearly 75 female athletes took part in basketball and volleyball camps last week at both the Jacksboro High School practice gym and Jacksboro Middle School gym. Jacksboro sophomore Kylie Tullous capped off a tremendous sophomore year by being named to the Class 3A All-State Team recently by the Texas Girls Coaches Association. Tullous, who played second base for the Tigerettes, batted over .400 in both the leadoff and No.2- spots in the order. Jacksboro had its season ended in the regional quarter finals. More than 85 boys in grades K-8 came out for boys basketball camp last week. The camp was held in the JHS auxiliary gym. Camps focused on drills including dribbling, passing and shooting. The days of athletes being able to rest during the summer are behind us.

Windsor Godfrey (8) and Traci Berend (11) represented Bryson, and Abigail Vanburkirk (3) represented Perrin during the Oil Bowl Small-School volleyball game Saturday at Rider High School in Wichita Falls. Godfrey had five kills for the East All-Stars, who defeated the West All-Stars 25-20, 25-19. Berend has one kill, one dig and one block for the West All-Stars. After a three-round run into the Class 3A softball playoffs, Jacksboro landed several on the All-District 7-3A team announced last week.

Jacksboro Elementary School had its annual Field Day on Monday, May 23. With the help of teachers, JHS students and other staff from around the district, the day came off without a hitch.
