Tigers suffer opening loss to Eagle Mountain

The regular season has finally come for Jacksboro and the team was looking to get things off to a strong start. Unfortunately for the Tigers, they could not get the job done against the Eagle Mountain Knights 34-21.

After the game, the message was simple from head coach Casey Hubble.

“We played a really good football team. They did some things really good, but we’ve got to get a lot better,” Hubble said. “Defensively we’re gonna have to get better and play good football.”

The Perrin-Whitt Lady Pirates had a big last week defeating the Santo Ladycats in a three set sweep. This increases the team's record to 13-7 at the time of this article’s writing.

Set one was probably the closest set the team had in terms of competition against the Ladycats. It was a close bout overall, but the team ended up pulling away and winning the first set by a score of 25-18.

Lady Pirates head coach Rebekah Bland said that while the team won the contest in the end, one of their biggest points of focus going forward will be starting strong.

Tigers assess strengths, weaknesses in final scrimmage

The Jacksboro Tigers varsity football team took their last step of offseason development this past week with their final scrimmage match against Tolar. Now that match is in the past and the team can finally start looking ahead to regular season play.

However, that doesn’t mean that this matchup should just be brushed under the rug, after all these matchups are important for a team to evaluate what they do well and what they need to improve.

This is a critical part of analysis for all high school Texas teams especially before the start of district play.
