Tigers move to 5-4 on the season after win over Valley View

The Jacksboro Tigers moved back over the .500 mark with their latest win over the Valley View Eagles. It was arguably the team’s most dominant win of the season, shutting out the Eagles in a 61-0 victory.

This season has been an impressive one when it comes to overcoming adversity. The team started off 0-4, but really took their game to another level once district play started.

The team now finds themselves having won five consecutive games and are undefeated in district play to take them to first place in the district.

Bryson XC runners represent at state meet

The 1A state meet for cross country took place at the end of October and Bryson proudly sent two participants who had strong performances throughout the day.

The meet took place Friday, Oct. 31 in Round Rock where BHS cross country team members Ty McComack and Joslyn Whitfill qualified after their performances in the regional meet where McComack finished in sixth place and Whitfill finished in ninth.

Both of them impressed again Friday when McComack finished in the top 25 out of 149 runners and Whitfill finished in the top 60 out of 145 runners.

Pirates to take on Northside in final regular season game

The Perrin-Whitt Pirates were on their schedule bye week this week and will pick up action for their final stretch of the regular season against the Knox City Greyhounds Friday, Oct. 31 before closing out with the Northside Indians Friday, Nov. 7.

The matchup against the Indians will be the Pirates’ next scheduled game as of Saturday, Nov. 1. Perrin-Whitt has had a strong season up to this point and will need to keep their foot on the gas as they head into the playoffs.

Tigers move to 4-4 on the season after win over Henrietta

The Jacksboro Tigers have come all the way back in the standings after starting the season 0-4. They are back to a .500 record after defeating the Henrietta Bearcats in a dominant victory.

The game took place Friday, Oct. 24 at 2 p.m. as several Jack County games, including the Tigers, were moved to different times and even days due to severe weather.

The Tigers had another complete effort both offensively and defensively as they were able to come out with a 42-14 victory.

Cowboys bounce back in district win against Knox City

The Bryson Cowboys got back on the right track this week after beating the Knox City Greyhounds in their latest district matchup. It was a back and forth contest but the Cowboys were able to pull out the victory 63-54.

It was a close game all the way through as the Cowboys only led by one score 40-34 at the half.

Going into the fourth quarter it was only a six point game as well with the team barely leading 48-42.

Knox City definitely gave their best effort to try to come back and take control, but the Cowboys kept their head in the game.

Lady Pirates claim district title undefeated

It was a special night for the Perrin-Whitt Lady Pirates this past week as they accomplished two different goals in their matchup against the Newcastle Ladycats. They were able to stay undefeated after their victory, but also won district 11-1A.

It was a valiant team effort up and down the board for the team and every member should be commended.

Those team members are Michelle Akin, McKieran Murphy, Mackenzie Green, Callie Weddle, Lucchese Reilly, Shiloh Wilson, Allie Kovar, Baylee Meadows, Bea Adams, Kannan Collier and Adalynn Pool.

BHS sending two to state cross country meet

It was a successful day for the Bryson Cowboys and Cowgirls at their regional cross country meet, with two runners punching their ticket to state.

The 1A Region III Cross Country Championship took place Monday, Oct. 20 in Grand Prairie, where both teams ran their hardest to have the opportunity to compete at the next level.

Overall, two runners came out on top — Ty McComack, who finished sixth out of 143 runners, and Joslyn Whitfill finished ninth out of 138.

Tigerettes have strong showing at regional meet

Jacksboro Tigerette cross country runners had a solid showing at their regional meet this morning, competing against some of the strongest runners in the state.

The Region I Cross Country Championship took place Monday, Oct. 20 at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock, where athletes showcased the skills that brought them this far into the postseason.

The Tigerettes placed in the top 15 as a team, with individual runners finishing as high as 62 out of 176 total runners.

Pirates put on a show in homecoming win against Bryson

Homecoming week ended in a victory for the Perrin-Whitt Pirates in their Friday, Oct. 17 matchup against the Bryson Cowboys.

Both teams put on a show but the Pirates ultimately prevailed, sending the hometown crowd home happy with a thrilling 72-70 victory.

The team jumped out to a dominant lead early 30-6 after the first quarter. At halftime, the team increased this lead to a 64-38 margin.

Tigers decimate Bulldogs in latest district showdown

The Jacksboro Tigers marched into their latest district showdown against the Millsap Bulldogs and came out with a dominant 54-7 win. This marks the team's second consecutive win in district play and brings their season record out to 3-4 on the year.

The Tigers played in this contest Friday, Oct. 17 and saw a complete team effort throughout.
