BHS sending two to state cross country meet

It was a successful day for the Bryson Cowboys and Cowgirls at their regional cross country meet, with two runners punching their ticket to state.

The 1A Region III Cross Country Championship took place Monday, Oct. 20 in Grand Prairie, where both teams ran their hardest to have the opportunity to compete at the next level.

Overall, two runners came out on top — Ty McComack, who finished sixth out of 143 runners, and Joslyn Whitfill finished ninth out of 138.

Both teams earned their spot at regionals following their performances at the District 17-1A meet Wednesday, Oct. 8 in Perrin.

McComack and Whitfill will compete Friday, Oct. 31at the UIL Cross Country State Championships at Old Settler’s Park in Round Rock. The 1A girls begin their race at 10:55 a.m., with the boys following at 11:25 a.m.
