Tigerettes shine in Bowie tournament

The Jacksboro Tigerettes made sure to go into the Thanksgiving holiday in style after having a successful tournament run in Bowie, finishing with a 3-1 record over the two days.

The tournament took place Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 24-25 and the Tigerettes faced off against Chico, Muenster, Windthorst and Millsap.

Tigers beat Alvarado in offensive shootout

The Jacksboro Tigers basketball team improved to 2-0 on the season after defeating the Alvarado Indians 62-61, an offensive shootout that came down to the wire.

The game took place Monday, Nov. 24 and there were standout performances across the board.

The Tigers ended the first quarter with a two point lead 17-15. Brayden Rockey led the way with three two point shots and a three point make. Tyler Roberts had a three pointer as well and Travis Mitchell hit a midrange shot.

Cowboys win nail-biter over Prairie Valley

The Bryson Cowboys basketball team improved to 2-1 on the season after they defeated the Prairie Valley Bulldogs. It was a close contest, but the Cowboys pulled off the nail-biting win 48-46.

The game took place Monday, Nov. 24 and from the start it was a back and forth affair throughout.

The Cowboys ended the first quarter trailing by a score of 15-10. Canton Scobee hit a pair of three pointers while Caleb Allen knocked down a midrange jumpshot and hit two free throws.

Pirates, Lady Pirates represent in hometown basketball tournament

The Perrin-Whitt Pirates and Lady Pirates put on a show in their hometown tournament right before the Thanksgiving break with both teams going undefeated during their tournament matches.

The tournament took place from Thursday to Saturday, Nov. 20-22 with the Lady Pirates playing the most games. The Lady Pirates played four games and ended the weekend with a perfect 4-0 record. The Pirates only played two games and finished with a perfect 2-0 record.

Jacksboro’s season ends in the battle of the Tigers

The Jacksboro Tigers football season came to an end in the area round of the playoffs against the Blue Ridge Tigers in a hard fought contest, but ultimately Blue Ridge pulled away with the win in a 48-41 shootout.

The game took place Friday, Nov. 21 and Jacksboro gave it everything they had.

Jacksboro led after the first quarter 21-20 followed by both teams' defenses holding strong for a scoreless second quarter.

In the third quarter, the lone touchdown went to Blue Ridge, giving them the 27-21 lead going into the fourth quarter.

Tigers win season opener against Archer City

The Jacksboro Tigers basketball team opened their season against Archer City and came out with a convincing victory, defeating the Wildcats 60-36.

The game took place Tuesday, Nov. 18 and there were standout performances across the board.

The Tigers exploded in the first quarter, scoring 24 points. Brayden Rockey led the charge with 14 points in the opening quarter on a bevy of jumpshots and two free throw makes.

Tylers Roberts, Diego Guerrero, Travis Mitchell and Jacob Idell each hit a two point jumper of their own while Mitchell also hit a pair of free throws.

Cowgirls bounce back with win over Wichita Falls Christian

The Bryson Cowgirls basketball team played their second game of the season against the Wichita Falls Christian Lady Stars, pulling off a narrow victory 30-29.

The game took place Tuesday, Nov. 18 and was a thriller from beginning to end.

The Cowgirls ended the first quarter leading by one point 9-8. Kinsley Rowe hit a three pointer from behind the arc while Khloey Reddell, Jaydah McComack and Reese Tuehl each hit midrange jumpshots.

Cowboys drop season opener against Christ Academy

The Bryson Cowboys basketball team opened their season at home, facing off against the Christ Academy Warriors.

The game took place Tuesday, Nov. 18 where the Cowboys lost to the Warriors 55-35.

“Foul trouble got us in the first half,” head coach Noah Sprinkle said. “We were down by 11 at the half and got back within six in the third 36-30.”

The Cowboys opened the game scoring seven points in the first quarter. Wiett Newton hit a midrange jumper while Canton Scobee hit a free throw at the charity stripe.

Cowgirls volleyball honored with district awards

The Cowgirls volleyball season came to an end but there’s more to celebrate from this team, with several athletes receiving district awards for their efforts.

The team was competitive on the season despite its younger roster, finishing with a 14-18 record.

With a season of experience under their belt, head coach Mandy Cernosek said she thinks the team will grow into a solid group.

Flashes of that were proven this season, with eight players picking up district awards.

Tigers take down Tolar in bi-district championship

The Jacksboro Tigers started their playoff run on the right foot, becoming bi-district champs by taking down the Tolar Rattlers.

This game took place Thursday, Nov. 13, and it was essentially a tale of two halves.

The Tigers started off with a little adversity to open the game, giving up an opening drive touchdown to trail 7-0.
