When things aren’t going your way, it’s easy to just throw up your hands and quit. Jacksboro’s volleyball team has had its ups and downs this year, having returned home from a 3-4 tournament in Poolville the weekend before.

After falling in an 8-6 halftime hole, Jacksboro’s JV White football team used a pair of third quarter touchdowns and a pair of fourth quarter interceptions to post a 22-8 win Friday, Aug. 23.

Jacksboro’s varsity volleyball squad lost a pair of pool play games at the Summer Slam Tournament Aug. 17.

After letting leads slip away late in games three and four, the Bryson Cowgirls rebounded in game five to give them a 25-21, 25-16, 23-25, 18-25, 15-7 win. In the opener, a four point run from sophomore setter Morgan Eberle and pairs by Nevarez and Macy Hawkins to force the Mogulettes into a timeout down 3-11.

The Tigerettes went 2-1 during pool play at the Chico Tournament. Brief summaries of the matches follow: Saint Jo 25-15-14, Jacksboro 23-25-16 In the tournament’s opening match, the Lady Panthers eked the opening game before Jacksboro stormed back to win.

A new law will go into effect in September that limits rights by the public to hunting on navigable rivers in Texas. This new law/ regulation (SB 1236) was passed just last week and blindsided most Texas sportsmen and women.
