Tigerettes take down Vernon in district showdown

The Jacksboro Tigerettes have been off and running since the start of the season and continued that stretch with their latest district matchup against the Vernon Lady Lions. The Tigerettes decimated the Lady Lions 58-14 in a complete team effort.

Head coach Clayton Brown said that picking up a momentous win like this was pivotal for the Tigerettes at this point in the season after hitting a few road bumps against City View and Holliday.

Cowboys take down Newcastle in thriller

The Bryson Cowboys have battled through adversity all season long and that came through in a big way against the Newcastle Bobcats. The Cowboys defeated the Bobcats 52-49 to get back in the win column.

Head coach Noah Sprinkle said that this victory was a testament to the focus and energy the team has put in all season despite having their share of struggles.

“This one’s been a long time coming,” Sprinkle said. “We were 2-16 before this game and had lost 15 in a row. I was just proud of them that they never quit during those 15 games. You can tell they’re connected.”

Cowgirls drop district game to Newcastle

The Bryson Cowgirls continued their district schedule against Newcastle in a well fought contest, though they dropped the matchup to the Ladycats 51-21.

Head coach Jeff Pirkle said getting into foul trouble made it difficult for the Cowgirls to get into a consistent rhythm and the team would need to continue to improve their scoring ability on offense.

“Defensively we started out playing hard,” Pirkle said. “We then got into some foul trouble and it was hard to climb back into it.”

Jacksboro celebrates Walker’s college commitment

The community in Jacksboro came out over the weekend in support of one of the Tigerette’s brightest stars who achieved a her life-long dream. After years of dedication and hard work, Hayden Walker will continue her basketball career in the college ranks after her commitment to Oklahoma Christian University.

Walker’s commitment to the program actually came in the latter half of the 2025 school year on National Signing Day.

However, the community held a special ceremony for Walker Sunday, Jan. 11 to celebrate her achievement.

Lady Pirates roll past Bryson in district opener

The Perrin-Whitt Lady Pirates opened their district schedule against one of their familiar opponents in the Bryson Cowgirls. The Lady Pirates were able to storm out early and pick up a decisive victory by a final score of 56-23.

Coming into district play, head coach Jason Morales preached to his team they needed to get off to a fast start while not falling into complacency as the game went on, and that's just what they were able to accomplish in this matchup.

Tigerettes defeat Iowa Park for second straight district win

The Jacksboro Tigerettes basketball team continued their district schedule earlier this week and picked up their second consecutive victory, sending Iowa Park home emptyhanded. After besting Bowie, the Tigers defeated the Lady Hawks 38-28 in the contest. 

The matchup took place Tuesday, Jan. 6 and after the first quarter the Tigerettes found themselves with a six point lead 11-5.

Tigers lose narrowly to Iowa Park

The Jacksboro Tigers basketball team played an early week matchup against the Iowa Park Hawks and while the Tigers fought hard they could not get the job done, losing 60-50.

The game took place Tuesday, Jan. 6 and after the first quarter the Tigers put up 13 points to take a lead 13-8.

Wyatt Gavit led the team in scoring in the quarter with six points on three midrange jumpshots. Hoytt Wesson and Brayden Rockey followed up in support of Gavit with midrange jumpers of their own.

Pirates take gritty win over Clifton

The Perrin-Whitt Pirates basketball team picked up a gritty win over the Clifton Cubs in their early week matchup, coming from behind to secure a 63-53 victory.

The game took place Monday, Jan. 5 and after the first quarter the Pirates were fighting but trailed by one point 18-17.

Case Lambert hit a trio of three pointers in the quarter as well as nailing four free throws at the foul line. Cooper Walker hit a three pointer and Riley Sims added a free throw to the scoring total.

Tigerettes dominate Bowie for fourth straight win

The Jacksboro Tigerettes basketball team played a weekend matchup against the Bowie Lady Rabbits and put on a show, taking the 56-39 victory to extend their win streak to four games.

The game took place Saturday, Jan. 3 and after the first quarter the Tigerettes found themselves trailing by a score of 12-8.

Hayden Walker had five points in the quarter on a three pointer as well as a two pointer and Kolbi Rockey followed up in support of her with a three pointer of her own.

Pirates decimate Gold-Burg in first game of new year

The Perrin-Whitt Pirates basketball team played a late week matchup to kick off the new year at home against Gold-Burg. The team put on a show for the hometown crowd, obliterating the Bears 99-31.

The game took place Friday, Jan. 2 and after one quarter the Pirates already jumped out to a 22 point lead 28-6.

Case Lambert and Cole Keeney led the team in scoring in the opening quarter. Lambert had 11 points in the quarter on a pair of three pointers, a pair of two pointers and a free throw at the foul line.
