Cowboys route Woodson on senior night

The Bryson Cowboys played a home game against Woodson last weekend in what was a special night for the team. Not only did the Cowboys come away with a 59-34 victory, but they did it on the most ceremonious night of their regular season.

Every year, high schools across Texas dedicate a night of their season to the players who have dedicated themselves to their athletic programs during their high school careers and will be taking their next steps graduating, that night being senior night.

The Bryson Cowgirls played a matchup last weekend against Woodson and despite a narrow loss, it was still a night to celebrate. The Cowgirls partook in an annual tradition that high schools across the country look forward to every year, that being senior night.

This night every year commemorates the dedication that athletes have for their program during their high school years and to celebrate them as they move toward graduation and the next phases of their lives.

UIL reclassification, realignment affects Jack County schools

The UIL officially released their reclassification and realignment for Texas high schools ranging from 2026-2028.

While none of the three schools in Jack County, being Jacksboro, Bryson and Perrin-Whitt, were reclassified, the schools still saw several realignment shifts which will lead to several new opponents for the three schools going into future seasons.

Tigers pick up win over Bowie

The Jacksboro Tigers were in a bit of a holding pattern for much of the past week as winter weather shut down schools and athletics in Jack county. But after the extended break, the Tigers got back into action against the Bowie Jackrabbits and came away with a victory 67-32.

Despite the big win after a pause in the season, head coach Alex Rodriguez is making sure the team stays focused while looking ahead in district play.

Cowgirls take down Throckmorton

Despite the frosty winter weather rolling in last week the Cowgirls went into the impromptu break with scorching momentum, taking down the Throckmorton Lady Greyhounds 36-18 to improve to 2-3 in district play.

This was a scrappy victory on both ends of the court for the Cowgirls all game long as the team powered through for a victory.

Players like Kinsley Rowe, Jaydah McComack, Reese Tuehl and Khloey Reddell kept the team in the matchup offensively in the first half but head coach Jeff Pirkle said it was the defense that led the way throughout the first two quarters.

Cowboys remain undefeated in district after beating Throckmorton

The Bryson Cowboys took the court late last week and beat the Throckmorton Greyhounds to remain undefeated in district play. The Cowboys won 50-22 in a hard fought contest to improve to 3-0 in District 1A Region III.

What’s more impressive is the fact that the Cowboys were able to pick up this victory after overcoming some struggles of their own. Head coach Noah Sprinkle told the team after the game that while they could acknowledge that they’ve gotten off to a hot start in district, they cannot be satisfied and must strive to be better each game.

Even with the win coming out as a lopsided victory in favor of the Pirates on the scoresheet, head coach Todd McCormick credited the team for overcoming adversity in the game and playing hard to come out with the win.

The Lady Pirates played a district showdown before the snow rolled in last week against the Garner Lady Longhorns and shut down their opponent in a 39-11 victory.

This was a game that was essentially over from the moment it began. The Lady Pirates scored just enough in the first half to be able to jump out to a significant lead 17-3 at halftime.

The Lady Longhorns put up a good amount of shots throughout the game but were not overly effective, which helped the Lady Pirates out to the early lead.
