Perrin-Whitt takes down Forestburg in bi-district

The Perrin-Whitt Pirates got their postseason run started off in style in the bi-district round as the team took on the Forestburg Longhorns in bi-district play to come away with a dominant 84-38 victory.

“It was exciting,” head coach Todd McCormick said. “The kids worked hard, they were prepared and ready to go. We had a lot of people contribute, it was a full team effort.”

McCormick wasn’t lying as the Pirates played a fast paced and selfless style of offense that was too much for Forestburg to match right from the opening quarter.

Lady Pirates season comes to an end vs Dodd City

The Perrin-Whitt Lady Pirates entered their area playoff matchup in Sanger against Dodd City in what was already a history-making moment for the Lady Pirates. Even though their season came to an end in a 42-32 loss, there was still a lot to celebrate with this team.

That was made clear by head coach Jason Morales after the game.

“We had a great year, this one game doesn’t define our season,” Morales said. “District title for the first time in 42 years, first ever playoff win and first ever to advance to the second round—we’ve got no complaints about this game.”

Cowboys drop seeding match to Newcastle

The Bryson Cowboys wrapped up their district and regular season schedule with a seeding matchup against the Newcastle Bobcats to determine where they will start off in the postseason. Bryson lost this matchup by a final score of 53-36.

Things were tough in the first half for the Cowboys and Newcastle's defense was putting the pressure on early. The shots were not falling for Bryson and Newcastle’s defense was a brick wall inside the paint.

The Cowboys tried to attack the basket early on, but opportunities were cut down and Bryson went into the half trailing 29-10.

Tigerettes’ season comes to a close in area round

The Jacksboro Tigerettes took another long road trip, this time out to Comanche High School for their area round matchup against the Sweetwater Lady Mustangs. This is where their playoff run and season would come to an end, though, losing narrowly to Sweetwater 41-35.

Despite the loss, head coach Clayton Brown has full confidence in the future of the Tigerettes and expects the team to come back even more determined next season.

The Bryson Cowgirls fought all season long to push for a postseason spot and that is exactly what was accomplished after winning a thrilling play-in game against Garner to set up a bi-district playoff matchup against the Bellevue Lady Eagles. But for the Cowgirls, this would be where their season came to an end in a 62-29 loss.

Despite the loss, head coach Jeff Pirkle said he was proud of what the team had accomplished throughout the season, and even though they were a young roster, they experienced significant growth over the course of the season.
