BOWIE – A 16-hit attack, coming from all part of the lineup was enough to keep Jacksboro’s softballers perfect in District 7-3A with a 19-0 win over Nocona here March 23.
The Tigerettes scored in every inning, scoring three times in each of the first two innings to take control. Singles by Hadlee Richardson, Kylie Tullous, and Alex Holman loaded the bases to open the 2:05 game.
Both the 7th and 8 grade JMS girls track teams finished with strong showings at a track meet last week.
The 7th grade finished with 139 points, good enough for 2nd place among five teams.Lainey Brown won the 400-meters with a time 1:10.20. Brown also combined by Sofia Buenostro, Dylann Nichols and Ruby Flores for a win in the 1,600-meter relay wit a time of 4:52.54.
Buenostro was 2nd in the 200-meters in 30.97, as was Madison Collins in the 800-meters with a 3:00.11 clocking, 1,600-meters in 6:45.02 and 2,400-meters in 10:32.10.
BOWIE – Call it run rule, extended edition.
After the Jacksboro softball team had run ruled Nocona 19-0 in five innings earlier in the evening, Jacksboro’s baseball team felt the urge to do the same thing, leading 11-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning. A game is considered over if one team leads another by 10 or more after five innings have been played.
Nocona had other ideas.
BRYSON – In the district opener for both schools Friday, Bryson jumped out to a 9-1 first-inning lead but it wouldn’t stick. Visiting Bluff Dale scored in all five innings, including a seven-run final at-bat, to post a 16-10 win.
Cowboys senior Zander Tinney gave up a run without a hit in the first on the mound but struck out the last two batters to strand a pair in scoring position. A non-run first opened with Tinney and Landon Stephens drawing walks to put runners in scoring position with one out.
SANTO The Tigerette varsity track team had a strong showing, finishing fifth with 66 points at its meet before Spring B real.
Good pitcher’s duels are few and far between in District 7-3A with every team seemingly able to unleash offense at any moment.
Jacksboro Baseball Coach Blake Belcher has been looking forward to this season after a pair of thin years for the Tigers.
Fourteen runs is difficult to score in two games, let along one inning.
While a 5-run inning may seem ordinary, it was huge in the scheme of things to Jacksboro’s varsity softballers March 16.
PEASTER – Jacksboro’as girls tricksters had solid track meet here March 11 finishing fourth in the girls division.
The squad was paced by a pair of first place finishes: Kylie Tullous in the pole vault and Savannah Thompson in the discus. Second place finishes were received by Emma Owen in the triple jump with a third place finish received by Traci Berend in the shot put.
