Perrin uses big second half to clinch state title

It was 79 years in the making.

Perrin last made an appearance in the state championship back in 1946. The return to state was a successful one for the Pirates, who broke open a close game with Valley in the second half to take a 65-46 win over the Patriots in the Class A Division 1 State Championship on Thursday, March 6.

The Pirates finish the year at 34-5 with Valley ending at 34-4.

Bryson boys fall in State Championship

A storybook boys basketball season for the Bryson Cowboys was ended by Jayton in the Class A Division 2 State Championship, the squad suffering a 70-36 loss at the hands of the Jaybirds.

Bryson, the Region 3 Champion, ended its season at 29-5.

Jayton, the defending state champion, jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead and was never headed. Bryson got on the board via a pair of Maurice Reiter free throws with just over three minutes gone by.

Bryson heads to Class 1A Division 2 Championship

Time to board the ‘ship.

Bryson’s cruise in the Class A basketball playoffs will culminate with play in the Class A Division II championship, the Cowboys coming from behind in the final two minutes Tuesday, March 4 to take a 59-55 win over Kennard. 

Bryson (29-4) takes on top-ranked Jayton at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 6 at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
