Gill, Gavit, Hawkins named Athletes of Week
Each week, the Jacksboro Herald-Gazette will recognize one athlete from each Jack County school as the Herald’s Athletes of the Week. The Herald’s Athletes of the Week are Aidan Gill of Perrin, Wyatt Gavit of Jacksboro, and Brody Hawkins of Bryson.
Tigers track teams finish third at Eastland track meet
Jacksboro High School’s boys track teams competed Thursday, Feb. 27 at the Eastland Mavericks Relays, with both JV and varsity finishing in third place overall.

Pirates beat Indians, headed to state
Perrin had one focus in the Saturday, March 1 regional final against Huckabay: Moving on. The Pirates did what they’ve done all year: get out to a good start and keep the hammer down in a 57-44 victory over the Indians, clinching a spot in the Class A final four as the Region 3 champion.

Perrin boys heading to San Antonio
It’s a situation Perrin hasn’t found itself in many times this year: being behind at halftime.
In their Class A division 1 state semifinal game on Monday, March 3, the Pirates were just that. Perrin’s poor field half shooting enabling Brookeland to take a 26-20 lead at halftime. After shooting just 17 percent in the first two quarters (6-of-36), Perrin appeared on the verge of being eliminated from the post season.
