Four Jacksboro High School teams competed Thursday, March 27 at the Lion Relays in Ponder. Tigerettes Results Both of Jacksboro’s girls track teams had successful days at last week’s meet.

Tigererettes rout Bowie
Jacksboro went to 5-1 in District 7-3A, the Tigerettes leading from wire to wire Saturday, March 22 in a 9-2 road win over Bowie. The Tigerettes are now 5-1 in district play.
Perez, Bennett, Murphy named Athletes of the Week
Each week, the Jacksboro Herald-Gazette will recognize one athlete from each Jack County school as the Herald’s Athletes of the Week. The Herald’s Athletes of the Week are McKieran Murphy of Perrin, Lily Perez of Jacksboro, and Ben Bennett of Bryson.
Bryson, Perrin track teams compete in Chico
Bryson and Perrin track teams had good meets Thursday, March 20 at the Chico Relays. Bryson Bryson’s boys won their portion of the meet with a number of first-place showings.
Tigers stay perfect in 7-3A
Jacksboro fell in an early hole Tuesday, March 18 but used a five-run second inning to take the lead for good in a hard-fought, 9-5 win over visiting Bowie.
Jacksboro is now 10-3 overall and 3-0 in District 7-3A. Tiger Coach Todd Hatton said in a good district like District 7-3A, you need to be ready to play every time out.

Tigerette softball runs past Bowie
Bowie’s softball team stayed close for most of the game but a five-run fourth-inning allowed host Jacksboro to break the game open and helped give the Tigerettes a harder than it looked 16-6, five-inning win on Tuesday, March 18.
Jacksboro is now 4-1 in District 7-3A play. Tigerette Coach John Bennett said the win was really simple.
“We hung in there,” Bennett said. “Our offense and executing bunts were key tonight.”

Pirates lose opening games
Perrin opened its 2025 baseball season with a pair of homefield losses to Class 2A schools Alvord and Lipan. In the Tuesday, March 11 season opener, the Pirates suffered a 16-3 setback to Alvord.
Bryson loses opener to Muenster
Bryson opened its baseball season Tuesday, March 11 with a 4-3 loss to Muenster. Coach Justin Ramirez said all four runs were due to free passes.
Welch, Valenzuela, Fisher named Athletes of the Week

Tigers sweep Lions
Jacksboro opened District 7-3A play with a doubleheader sweep Monday, March 10 of visiting Vernon, 11-1 in six innings in game one and 13-1 in game two. In the opener, Wyatt Gavit threw a one-hit gem and struck out 10 with no walks.
