Jacksboro’s softballers knocked Henrietta from the ranks of the District 7-3A unbeaten Friday, April 11 with a 9-8, eight-inning win. The Tigerettes are 7-3 in District 7-3A with Henrietta now at 9-1.
Several Tigerette athletes will be heading to area after competing April 2–3 in the District 7-3A Meet in Iowa Park. The top four finishers in each event qualify for area.
Bryson’s varsity boys track team took top honors at the District 17-A Meet in Newcastle last week. The Cowboys were led by several firstplace finishes, including a pair from Ty McComack who won both the 800-meter run in 2:10.36 and the 400-meter run in 53.57 seconds.
Jacksboro High School’s boys track teams will be sending several to area competition this week after top four finishes Wednesday, April 2 and Thursday, April 3 at the District 7-3A Meet in Iowa Park.
Perrin’s Lady Pirates track team took top honors at the District 17-A meet in Newcastle. The top four finishers in each event qualified for the area meet Monday, April 7 in Bryson.
Each week, the Jacksboro Herald-Gazette will recognize one athlete from each Jack County school as the Herald’s Athletes of the Week. The Herald’s Athletes of the Week are Riley Sims of Perrin, Lochlan Pardue of Jacksboro, and Garrett Pennington of Bryson.
Perrin’s track teams stayed in the county last week to compete at the Bryson Relays. The Lady Pirates were led by firstplace finishes from the 800-meter relay team and 1,600-meter relay team of McKieran Murphy, Lucchese Reilly, Shiloh Wilson, and Callie Weddle with times of 1:58.05 and 4:37.97, respectively.
