Several county baseball athletes were named to all district teams. Jacksboro, which had its season ended at 25-6, a District 7-3A championship and a berth in the Class 3A Region I Finals, was led by district MVP Cannon Valenzuela.

Bryson athletes are using their summer months to take part in strength and conditioning camps. Head volleyball coach Mandy Cernosek, who has been overseeing the Cowgirl workouts, said she has been pleased with the amount of girls that have come out.

Several Jack County athletes competed Friday, June 6 and Saturday, June 7 in Oil Bowl games in Wichita Falls. On Friday, Perrin’s Jack McCormick and Bryson’s Evan Ford took part in the boys basketball all- star games.

After seven years as an assistant in the very successful Nocona girls basketball program, Clayton Brown comes to take over the Jacksboro girls athletic program. Brown, who takes over for Charla Valenzuela as both the girls athletic coordinator and girls basketball coach, played at Peaster and then went to college at the University of North Texas.

It’s many a coach’s dream to be able to coach their own child successfully. For Todd and Jack McCormick, the success has gone beyond the wildest dreams.

In the wake of the Gordon tornado last month, Perrin-Whitt CISD officials made a donation to the relief effort at a baseball playoff game Thursday, May 22. When asked how much the donation was, district officials said “an undisclosed amount”.
