It might be a little while before Jacksboro athletes and coaches can move into their renovated facilities. Field house additions, which were paid for out of the 2023 bond issue, have been slowed thanks to heavy rains in the Spring, according to JISD Superintendent Brad Burnett.
After the success of a fundraiser volleyball tournament in late June, the Perrin girls volleyball program is at it again. This time the Lady Pirates are hosting a co-ed volleyball tournament Saturday, July 19 at the school gym.
Girls in grades 2-8 wanting to learn more about the finer points of volleyball can take part in Perrin Volleyball Camp July 21-25. Camp for grades 2-5 will take place Monday, July 21 through Wednesday, July 23 from 9 a.m.
In the days where athletic budgets have gotten tighter and tighter, coaches and teams are looking for different ways to raise additional monies. Perrin’s volleyball team found a way to hone its own skills and get others to take part as well by hosting a volleyball tournament Sunday, June 29 at the Perrin gym.
It takes teamwork to make the dream work. After senior Braeden Rockey had staked Jacksboro’s summer league basketball team to a 20-point lead early in the second half, Wichita Falls Legacy’s JV squad kept its composure and was able to whittle the lead down to six with still plenty of time left.
Braeden Rockey keyed a second half comeback for Jacksboro’s summer league basketball team in their Tuesday, June 25 game with Seymour. The senior had 19 of his 31 points in the final 20 minutes to pull out a 53-48 win.
It’s been a busy year for Evan Ford on the basketball court. The 2025 Bryson graduate had the opportunity of a lifetime in playing in the Class A Division II state championship in March.
Jacksboro’s summer basketball team got off to a quick start in Wichita Falls league play on Tuesday, June 17 and posted a 79-47 win over Burkburnett Orange. The Tigers got out to a 6-0 lead in the first minute on 3-pointers from Isaac Wesson and Tyler Roberts.
An average of about 30 athletes in grades 7-12 have been coming out during the first week of strength and conditioning camp in Perrin. Camp has been running from 9 to 11 a.m.
