Tigerettes fall, 12-6

BOWIE – Any night you have more errors than runs, it’s going to be tough to win.

Jacksboro let a potent 14-hit offensive attack go to waste Friday afternoon with seven errors allowing the hostesses to take an early lead it never relinquished in a 12-6 Tigerette loss here. Jacksboro saw its four-game win streak snapped to go to 4-2 in District 8-3A and 12-8 overall while Bowie is 3-3 and 6-13.

Tigers outlast Bowie, 6-3

BOWIE – Good teams find ways to win, no matter the situation.

After losing seven of its first nine games (one win, one tie), Jacksboro appears ready to right the ship, having gotten off to an unbeaten start in its first three District 8-3A games. Friday, the host Jackrabbits gave the Tigers everything they wanted, tying the game at three late.

Like the good teams do, the Tigers stormed right back in the top of the seventh and held off the hosts in a closer than it looked 6-3 win. Jacksboro is now 4-0 in the loop and 8-8-1 overall with Bowie falling to 2-2 and 7-10.

Baseball team beats Nocona, 13-8

NOCONA – If you can’t help your team one way, try another.

Senior Ty Kennedy learned that lesson Tuesday evening, Jacksboro’s pitcher not having his best night on the mound. Kennedy was solid at the plate, however, batting in five runs which actually proved the difference in a 13-8 win over the Indians at Bob Storey Field here.

Jacksboro remained perfect in District 8-3A at 3-0 and 7-8-1 overall while Nocona drops to 0-3 and 6-6. Tiger Coach Blake Belcher said his squad didn’t have one of its best outings.

Wells lifts at State Saturday

If it’s one word that Jacksboro senior powerlifter Josh Wells uses often to discuss his lifting experience, it’s frustrating.

He wouldn’t have had it any other way.

Wells has been lifting for all four years of high school. He started in middle school for a reason a lot of people can relate to.

“I was a little guy who wanted to be big,” Wells said. “I weighed about 115-120 pounds and have gained maybe an inch or two (in height) since then, but I’ve gotten thicker.”
