VB sweeps Newcastle
NEWCASTLE – The Class A Lady ‘Cats provided just what Jacksboro needed after two losses to Class 4A schools: a very competitive battle before falling to the visitors 25-19, 25-21, 25-23 Tuesday evening.
Jacksboro got out of the gate quickly in game one with Baylee Anderson and Morgyn Green combining to get the Purple out to a 6-2 lead. Newcastle would get within two before a Kellyn Mitchell ace and a Leah Plaster pair, aided by a Baylee Thompson block put the visitors up 11-5.
Singles by Trinity Tisdale, Jordan Nichols and Thompson gave Jacksboro a 17-9 lead. As they would all match, the Lady ‘Cats held tough and got within two on a long serving run by Erin Summerfield.
