VB falls to Lady Indians in four

Thu, 10/19/2017 - 1:55 pm

NOCONA – In honor of its Indian namesake, a large arrow going into the ground is displayed prominently near the parking lot at Nocona High.

That arrow is similar to the one that the Lady Indians put through the collective heart of Jacksboro’s volleyball team Tuesday night, the hostesses gaining the season sweep over the Tigerettes with a 16-25, 25-20, 25-17, 25-19 win. Nocona is 6-6 and Jacksboro 5-7 in District 8-3A action and in sole possession of the fourth and final playoff spot.

Jacksboro took control of the 85-minute match early, Alex Holman staking the visitors to a 4-0 lead in the opener. Leah Plaster then put home three more tallies, with some help from a Trinity Tisdale kill, to extend the lead to 8-1.

Three Morgyn Green tallies extended the lead to 15-6. Nocona had trouble getting anything going offensively, with a number of serves going into the net or kill attempts going long or wide.

Tisdale’s pair put the lead into double figures at 18-7 with singles by Holman, Plaster, and Carly Hart, the latter an ace, finishing out the game.
