Varsity Tigers get 500th win, 58-6

OLNEY ­– Going for something pretty special may have fueled Jacksboro’s varsity footballers Friday evening.

The Tigers, gunning for their 500th win as a program, scored three times in the first quarter to lead 21-6. The visitors would add 37 more in the second to take a 58-6 win over the Cubs at Cub Stadium.

Michael Harp and Santiago Salazar gave Jacksboro all the offense it’d need barely two minutes in as Harp scored on a 20-yard jaunt around the left side with Salazar tacking on the extra point. The Tigers would add anohter score before Olney returned a kickoff for its lone score of theevening.

Jacksboro would then score the final 44 points. Even the defense came up big as Kade Weldon returned an intercetption for a score. The Tiger ‘D’ also forced a safety.

The reserves had a chance to show their stuff as well. Sophomore Ke’Ondrae Sadler also finding paydirt late.

The game was called at the half because of lightning in the area.

The squad returns to action Friday, staying on the road at Windthorst.
