Varsity boys get back on track

Thu, 01/18/2018 - 12:19 pm

HENRIETTA – Playing four quarters of solid basketball, particularly on the road, is important to any team in a bind.

Jacksboro’s boys' basketballers opened District 8-3A play at 1-4, defensive lapses considered part of the reason for the slide. With the Tigers close to falling out of the postseason conversation, the squad played one of its better defensive games of the year but still needed an offensive explosion late to post a 54-46 win over the host Bearcats here Tuesday evening.

Jacksboro and Henrietta are now both 2-4 in district action (Jacksboro 7-9, Henrietta 13-9 overall.) Jacksboro Coach Aaron Bass said defensive lapses had hurt his squad and he was glad to see his squad keep its intensity for four quarters.

“We have to continue to keep locked in on our defensive assignments,” Bass said.
