Tigers take sting out of Boyd, 30-12

Jacksboro scored early and often in its Homecoming game Friday vs. Boyd, jumping out to a 14-0 lead and cruising to a 30-12 victory at Tiger Stadium.

Jacksboro is now 4-1 for the season with Boyd slipping to 0-5.

Hunter Jackson put the Tigers on the board less than a minute into the contest, capping a 70-yard drive with a 62-yard scamper around the left side to paydirt. Santiago Salazar tacked on the extra point with just 47 seconds gone.

Jacksboro extended its lead as Payton Laake stepped in front of a Kody Risenhoover pass and went 49 yards to the end zone for a 14-0 lead late in the first quarter.

Salazar added a 37-yard field goal early in the second quarter. Laake didn’t play after the first quarter with what was thought to be a shoulder injury. so Cody Gary took over at signal caller and fired a 22-yard strike to Hunter Hackley, capping a 69-yard, 10play drive with 2:37 to go in the half.

Following a short Boyd punt, Caleb Keith ended the Purple scoring by going up the gut 48 yards to the end zone in the final minute of the half.

After a scoreless third quarter, Boyd scored twice in the fourth on a pair of short Garrett Moran runs.

Jacksboro opens District 5-3A Division II action next Friday at home vs. Henrietta. Kickoff for all district games will be at 7 p.m.
