Tigers roar to 2-0

Fri, 09/02/2016 - 11:36 pm

WINDTHORST – In a much different game than a week ago, Jacksboro got out to a quick lead but watched Windthorst tie the contest late in the third. A fourth quarter score gave Jacksboro back the lead and a pair of late interceptions sealed the deal in a 21-14 Tiger win Friday evening.

The Tigers are 2-0 and Windthorst falls to 0-2.

Michael Harp’s 64-yard first quarter run set up his four-yard scoring run later in the drive. Fumble recoveries by Zach Hamm and Hunter Drennan and a Luke Dixon interception kept the hosts off the board.

Jacksboro added a score right before the half when Payton Laake found Ke’Ondrae Sadler with a 38-yard scoring strike for a 14-0 halftime lead.

Windthorst tied the game at 14 in the third on scoring runs by Hunter Wold and Coy Pommantz. Following the tying TD, Jacksboro came right back and used a great kick return from Caleb Keith to set up shop at the Trojan 38.

Five plays later, Hunter Jackson went up the gut from three yards out for the score with 11:56 to go. Interceptions by Laake and Sadler in the final frame put Jacksboro on top to stay.

Jacksboro returns home next week to face Paradise in its home opener at 7:30 p.m.
