Tigers face Bowie

Thu, 09/28/2017 - 12:25 pm

Jacksboro used its week off last week as an opportunity to get better in preparation for tonight’s Homecoming matchup with Bowie.

The Tigers are 3-0 for the second straight year but know Bowie will be a major obstacle as the squad dropped an 18-7 road decision to the Jackrabbits in 2016. Bowie will be an equally impressive foe this year after Jacksboro Coach Brannon Rodgers and his staff had the chance to scout the Rabbits last week.

“It’s always better to see a team in person than on film,” Rodgers explained. “I find you tend to notice more things.”

His coaching staff split up to cover Bowie but also Henrietta-Boyd as well, giving the Tigers the chance to scout their next three opponents in one swoop.

Bowie (1-3) is on a two-game losing streak vs. “district” opponents, losing in overtime to Henrietta two weeks ago before being shutout last week by Holliday. The Jackrabbits are led by junior quarterback Matthew Wallace (52-154, 7 TDs rushing, 29-48, 311 yards passing) who works behind a good size offensive line, which Rodgers says his players haven’t seen that kind of size to this point.
