Thu, 12/07/2017 - 11:10 am

For the second straight year, Jacksboro’s girls swept through their tournament, winning all four games in convincing fashion to take top honors in their Shootout.

Jacksboro (7-3) defeated South Hills, Graham, Archer City and Decatur on the way to the title. The closest game was against Decatur Saturday, a 49-23 verdict.

Thursday against South Hills, Jacksboro opened with a 57-16 win over the Scorpions. Jacksboro led 19-5 after one and extended the lead to 29-6 at the half. Jacksboro posted a defensive shutout in the third while scoring 18 points. Each team scored 10 in the final stanza.

Haley Laake had 14 points, Trinity Tisdale added nine and Baylee Thompson eight.

Against the Lady Blues, the Tigerettes started slowly not sure what to do against Graham which came out aggressively on the boards and was sent to the free throw line because of it. Baskets by Thompson and Haley Laake enabled the Tigerettes to take a 9-7 lead after one as Graham could not buy a basket early.
