Tigerettes rout Ranchview

Wed, 12/06/2017 - 6:05 pm

After a slow start, Jacksboro’s girls' basketballers continue down the winning path, getting their sixth victory in a row Tuesday night with a convincing 59-37 triumph over Irving Ranchview at JHS Gym.

The Tigerettes are now 8-3 for the season while the Class 4A Lady Wolves drop to 5-10. Jacksboro Coach Todd Matlock said the streak is due to lots of little things.

“We’re having the girls get better on the little things,” Matlock explained. “The girls off the bench are playing with a lot more comfort and confidence than we did last year. We’re a lot more comfortable with pressure this year and actually enjoy teams pushing us.”

The streak has also coincided with the offensive outburst of senior guard Haley Laake, who was named MVP of the Jacksboro Tournament last weekend. She has been averaging nearly 15 points a game during the win streak, including 19 points Tuesday night.
