Tigerettes beat WF Rider

Thu, 11/16/2017 - 12:23 pm

DALLAS – Bright lights. Big city. No problem.

With the bright lights of the American Airlines Center above them, Jacksboro’s girls' basketball team had something to prove Tuesday afternoon vs. Class 5A Wichita Falls Rider. After the boys' basketball team had won their first-ever appearance at the venue two years ago, the girls couldn’t be bested by their male counterparts.

They wouldn’t be as the Tigerettes got off to a quick start and, despite some problems with ball control, never let the Lady Raiders in the game in a 48-25 rout. Jacksboro has won two in a row to go to 2-1 with Rider falling to 1-3.

Tigerette Mentor Todd Matlock was pleased with the way his squad came out and took control early.

“I didn’t think we played badly in this atmosphere which we hope to see more of this season,” Matlock offered. “We had some problems with turnovers once we got ahead.”
