Tigerette VB falls to Burkburnett

Thu, 08/31/2017 - 12:01 pm

Playing “up” as it’s called is one way a small school gets better.

Jacksboro’s varsity volleyballers have done quite a bit of that lately, seeing larger competition at tournaments, including Class 4A Burkburnett, which it beat in tournament season. Aug. 25, the Lady ‘Dogs had some revenge against the Purple, using a solid frontcourt outing to post a 25-20-20-25, 25-17, 25-14 victory at Tiger Gym.

Jacksboro fell behind 5-1 in the opener but used a pair by Morgyn Green to knot the game. The visitors went up 11-6 but the Purple used points by Carly Hart and Cassie Irwin, who got some help from Trinity Tisdale’s kill and a Jordan Pruitt block, to tie the game at 13.

Jacksboro again fell behind, this time 21-14, before breaking serve and getting three Green points to draw within three. It would be as close as the squad would get, however, as Burkburnett closed things out.
