ARCHER CITY – Still trying to get acclimated to a new season and new coaching staff, Jacksboro went 2-2 in the seven-team Wildcat Classic here last weekend.

The Tigers opened with a 53-47 loss to Haskell. The Indians jumped out to a 14-7 lead after one but Jacksboro was able to outscore Haskell 8-7 in the second to cut the halftime lead to 21-15. The Tigers more than equaled their entire first half output in the third, outscoring Haskell 20-16 to be down just two, 37-35, entering the fourth quarter.

Clay Botello led the Tiger charge with 15 points. Senior Dalton Harp had 14 and Weston Bowen had 10.

In game two of pool play Friday, the Tigers led at halftime vs. the host Wildcats but Archer City used a free throw discrepancy to post a 63-43 win.

Archer City went to the free throw line 43 times in the game, compared to 13 for Jacksboro.
