Three area tracksters head to State

STEPHENVILLE — Perrin-Whitt will have a pair of representatives and Bryson one at the Class A State Track Meet next weekend in Austin by virtue of top two showings at the Region III-A Meet last weekend at Tarleton State University/

Senior Derek Ray won the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.29 and was 2nd in the 300-meter hurdles with a 42.19 clocking. 

Zach Tucker qualified by winning the 1,600-meter event in 4:48.57. 

Perrin Boys’ 800 and 1,600-meter relay teams were edged out by a hair in both races, for 3rd place finishes.  The 800-meter Relay team of Hunter Francis, Brigham Richardson, Justin Francis, and Hank Moore ran 1:35.18 for a new school record, missing 2nd by .02.

The 1,600-meter relay team of Richardson, Moore, Justin Francis and Chace Talley came in a mere.45 behind second place, with a time of 3:35.35 - also a new school record. 

The 400-meter relay team of Aidan Sims, Erick Martinez, Hunter Francis, and Justin Francis ran 47.60 in the event, finishing 8th.

Moore placed 4th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.71.

On the girls side, Addison Jenkins represented the Lady Pirates in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing 5th with a time of 18.17. 

Jenkins was joined by Brianna Bryant, Jasmine Brown and Claire Mounce on the 800-meter relay team for a 5th place time of 1:59.02.

In field events, Perrin’s Zach Tucker put up a 38-04.25 in the triple jump.  In the high jump, Lady Pirates’ Aubrey Chapman came up with a 4’4” with teammate Claire Mounce jumping a 4’2”.

Bryson also had a quality meet with Caleigh Forbus qualifying for State in the Long Jump with a 16’4 3/4” effort. Breanna Denton was just out of going to State in the pole vault with an 8’3” effort.

The 800-meter relay foursome was also 3rd with a 1:54.82.

Fourth-place finishes were recorded by Makayla Foyt in the 300-meter hurdles with a 51.5 time, the 400-meter relay quartet in 53.3 and senior Riley Smith in both the 1,600-meter run (5:41.45) and 3,200-meter run (12:56.41).

Ethan Robinson was 5th in the 400-meters with a 57.46 time. 

The girls 1,600-meter relay group finished 6th in 4:41.5.

The State Meet is set for the University of Texas’ Mike Myers’ Track and Soccer Stadium May 12-14.
