Softball team loses pair

Thu, 04/13/2017 - 11:34 am

WICHITA FALLS Games can change on a dime, at a moment’s notice, ...

on a grounder.

With Jacksboro’s varsity softballers seemingly in control of Friday’s game with City View, leading 3-0 in the third, a seemingly innocent two out ground ball back to the pitcher started a downward spiral that ultimately led to the hostesses posting a 12-6 win over the Tigerettes.

With a chance to enhance its bid for the playoffs slipping away, Jacksboro falls to 4-6 in District 8-3A and 9-15 overall with City View now at 5-5 and 14-7.

The aforementioned grounder off the bat of freshman Maddie Chalenburg was thrown away by pitcher Hanah Drennan and allowed Chalenburg to reach third. Two infield singles and another error brought three runs to score to tie the game before a groundout to short ended the threat.
