Senior night sweep of Holliday

Thu, 04/27/2017 - 12:37 pm

Carly Hart, by virtue of being hit by a number of pitches this season, was the “ hit girl” in some fans’ eyes. Friday night, she became the “it” girl.

Jacksboro’s sophomore catcher’s RBI single capped a three-run fifth inning and proved to be the game winner as visiting Holliday came through with a seventh-inning rally that fell just short in a 6-5 Tigerette win. Both teams ended their District 8-3A ledgers at 6-8 and knocked the Lady Eagles from postseason play.

Jacksboro, with its 12-19 overall record, set school records for both overall and district wins this season.

Holliday, which finished its year at 17-11, took a 1-0 lead in the first but the Tigerettes got on the board quickly in the bottom of the frame. Destiny Thompson laid down a bunt single with Maylan Armstrong beating out an infield single to get things started.
