Perrin lifters qualify for State

Thu, 03/08/2018 - 11:43 am

PERRIN – Brianna Bryant is hoping to place. Kelli Tucker is hoping for a successful experience overall.

Both Perrin powerlifters will be looking for State glory next week at the State Girls Powerlifting Meet in Waco March 16-17. Both finished in the top five in the 114-pound weight class at regionals last month to qualify for the meet.

For Bryant, she is going for the third time in three years. She admits that even as a veteran, the whole experience is a bit nervewracking.

“I’m very excited but it’s a lot of nerves,” Bryant offered. “I’ve had three different coaches three different years, so I’m hoping to be able to take a little bit of all three and be able to medal.”

Bryant, who finished third at regional but first in the Class 1A/2A level, has qualified for State all three years but has yet to bring home the hardware.
