JMS football opens vs. Paradise

Thu, 09/28/2017 - 12:47 pm

Jacksboro Middle School’s football teams opened their season vs. Paradise recently.

The 7th grade worked in a scrimmage format.Ramiro Bustos and Julian Chacon both had long touchdown runs for the Tigers. JMS coaches appeared pleased with the progress the squad is making.

“This was our first contest of the year, and we played it in a scrimmage format,” Coach Heath Tullous said. “Our first defense kept the Panthers out of the end zone, but we were unable to score either. Coaches are still placing people in the appropriate position and installing our system. The kids competed well and we look forward to seeing how much progress we can make this season.”

On the 8th grade side, the Tigers suffered a 14-0 setback in their opener. Coach Brian Davenport praised the defensive work of Devon Green, Andru Botello, Josh Pierce and Tanner Burby.

We have made great strides since last season,” Davenport said. “I felt like our players looked much more physical and comfortable running our new offensive/defensive schemes. Fans could see the benefits of a track/offseason. The team is working hard to make improvements daily.”
