JMS 8 girls win district, 7th grade 2nd

BOYD – JMS’ 8th grade girls took top honors in the North Zone District Track Meet April 6. It was back-to-back titles for the group, which won the title as seventh graders.

In the field events: Patricia Hernandez won the shot put with Jordan Pruitt fourth in the event. Abby Mangum was second in the high jump with Kassidy Rymel fourth. Hadlee Richardson was second in the triple jump and fourth in the long jump with sister Harlee Richardson fifth in both events.

In the discus, Alex Holman, Rhett Rollans and Makenna McAnear finished 3-4-5.

On the track itself, the squad had one victory with Maria Chavez taking top honors in the 2,400-meter run with Wendy Cervantes sixth. A number of second place finishes were recorded, including the 400-meter relay of Noelle Smith, Ariana Perez, Pruitt and Hadlee Richardson; the 800-meter relay quartet of Perez, McAnear, Pruitt and Hadlee Richardson along with Rollans in the 400-meter dash, Rymel in the 300-meter hurdles and Chavez in the 1,600-meter run.

Finishing third was Harlee Richardson in the 800-meter run, Mangum in the 100-meter hurdles, the 1,600-meter relay foursome of Perez, Rymel, Hadlee Richardson and Rollans along with Gunter in the 100-meter dash.
