JMS 7 'A' boys fall to Bowie

Thu, 11/30/2017 - 1:30 pm

In its season opener, Jacksboro Middle School’s 7th ‘A’ boys basketball team came out and gave three quarters of solid effort before the lack of practice time showed vs. visiting Bowie Monday evening, allowing the Jackrabbits a tougher than it looked 49-36 win at JHS Gym.

Jacksboro was hurt by turnovers throughout but the Tigers jumped out to a 2-0 lead on Julian Chacon’s bucket. Bowie used an 8-0 string to take command early, getting some good inside work from David Velasquez as the Rabbits led by eight. Ryder Jackson closed the quarter strong for the Tigers with a bucket and three-pointer, the latter coming just inside the buzzer, to cut the lead to 14-11 after one.
