Jacksboro looks to extend win streak

Thu, 09/07/2017 - 12:25 pm

Allowing seven yards defensively for an entire game will make any coach smile.

Jacksboro did just that in a 61-0 win Sept. 1 over Olney. The Cubs’ district rival Windthorst pays a visit to Tiger Stadium this evening with a much more potent offense, the Trojans putting up 531 yards and 32 points on Henrietta at home in a tough loss to the Bearcats.

Jacksboro Coach Brannon Rodgers said he was pleased with the way his squad prepared for the game and Windthorst will be a good test for his troops.

“They always play hard from the first snap to the last and have kids that are always intense the whole time,” Rodgers said. “We need to match the level of intensity. This will be a good barometer for us.”

Windthorst coughed up the football four times vs. Henrietta, including three interceptions by quarterback Hunter Wolf. Wolf was 27-37 for 300 yards in the air. with Nathan Bates hauling in seven balls for 130 yards against a Bearcat secondary which lost all four starters from 2016.
