Girls roll through Paradise

Thu, 01/19/2017 - 11:30 am

PARADISE – Jacksboro’s girls opened district last year here, getting out to a 13-point second half lead ... only to see it slip away with the Tigerettes suffering an overtime loss.

On Jan. 13, a nearly identical situation happened with the visitors getting out to a second-half lead ... only to expand on it and have one of their best overall games of the season in a 56-31 victory. The Tigerettes close the first round of District 8-3A play at 6-1 (21-5 overall) while the Lady Panthers drop to 5-2 and 14-10.

Jacksboro came out aggressive on both ends of the floor, forcing turnovers and using buckets by Trinity Tiosdale and Jaymee Yount along with free throws by Yount and Haley Laake to jump out to a 10-0 lead midway through the first.Paradise got within six but answers from Baylee Thompson and Laake put the lead back into double figures to close the quarter.

The Lady Panthers missed their last five shots of the frame to be down 16-4 after one.
